Through Mackenzie’s Monument Cleaning Service, a monument care service by Dustin’s Doves, we are honored to provide gentle headstone and monument cleaning, seasonal flower placement, and ongoing gravesite care for families throughout our North Carolina service area. Whether your loved one’s monument needs a one-time cleaning or year-round care, our goal is to help keep their resting place clean, beautiful, and respectfully maintained.
Over time, headstones and grave markers can collect dirt, pollen, grass clippings, moss, mildew, and other buildup. Flowers may fade, blow away, or be removed during cemetery maintenance.
Our monument care services were created for families who want their loved one’s resting place to be cared for with consistency, dignity, and respect — even when they are unable to visit as often as they would like. Each visit is handled with care using safe cleaning methods, gentle tools, and respectful attention to the monument and surrounding gravesite.
What Our Monument Care Visits Include
Gentle headstone or monument cleaning
Safe cleaning solution and soft brushes
Light gravesite tidying around the monument
Removal of faded flowers or loose debris
Standard seasonal flower placement when included
Before-and-after photos
Photo updates sent after each visit
Notes if we notice damage, sinking, broken vases, or other concerns
Care plans include standard flowers unless the family requests no flowers. Choosing not to have flowers placed does not change the care plan price.
Care Plans Made Simple
Families may choose a one-time cleaning or enroll in an ongoing care plan. Care plans offer the best value and help ensure the monument is cared for on a regular schedule without the family needing to remember to schedule each visit.
We offer three care plan options:
Annual Care includes one scheduled visit each year. Twice-Yearly Care includes two scheduled visits each year. Seasonal Care includes four scheduled visits each year — spring, summer, fall, and Christmas/winter.
Families choosing Annual or Twice-Yearly Care may select meaningful care dates, such as birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays. When possible, these visits are completed within 7–10 days before the selected date.
Seasonal Care visits are completed during set seasonal service windows rather than on exact dates chosen by the family. This allows us to refresh flowers at the proper time of year, plan efficient routes, and work around weather conditions. The more often a monument is cared for, the lower the cost per visit. Families with multiple monuments in the same cemetery may also qualify for Family Plot Pricing when those monuments are serviced during the same visit or service window.
Why Seasonal Care Is Our Best Value
Our Seasonal Care Plan is our most complete option and is designed to keep your loved one’s resting place clean, fresh, and respectfully maintained throughout the year.
Each seasonal visit includes gentle cleaning, removal of faded flowers when needed, and standard flowers chosen for the season — spring flowers in the spring, bright summer flowers in the summer, warm fall arrangements in the fall, and Christmas/winter flowers near the holidays. With Seasonal Care, your loved one’s monument is not left waiting until it looks neglected. The flowers are refreshed throughout the year, the stone is cared for regularly, and your family receives photo updates after each completed visit.
Seasonal Care Windows
Spring: March 15 – April 15
Summer: June 1 – June 30
Fall: September 15 – October 15
Christmas/Winter: November 29 – December 15
Seasonal Care visits are completed during these service windows rather than on exact dates. This allows us to plan routes efficiently, work around weather, and care for each monument at the proper time of year.
One-Time Monument Cleaning
One-time monument cleaning is also available for families who need a single visit without enrolling in an ongoing care plan. This is a good option before a holiday, family visit, memorial gathering, or simply when a monument needs attention. Families may choose cleaning only or cleaning with standard flowers.
Pricing Guide
Care plan pricing depends on monument size, visit frequency, and whether multiple monuments in the same cemetery are serviced together. Our pricing guide below shows standard monument pricing, large monument pricing, Family Plot Pricing, and annual prepay options.
Our Seasonal Care Plan offers the lowest per-visit rate and the most consistent year-round care.
How Care Plans Work
Care plans are set up for a five-year care term. During that term, your care plan price is locked in and will not increase, even if our standard prices change. At the end of the five years, we will contact the family to ask about renewal, updates, or any changes to the care plan. Prices may be updated at renewal.
Families may cancel future care at any time before the next scheduled visit. Completed visits and annual prepayments are non-refundable.
For care plans, a payment card is kept securely on file and charged approximately 5–10 days before each scheduled visit. Once payment is processed, we complete the visit during the scheduled care window or preferred date range, weather permitting. Families enrolled in Seasonal or Twice-Yearly Care may also choose to prepay for the care year upfront. Prepaying is more convenient, reduces the number of card charges throughout the year, and provides a small savings on each visit.
Photo Updates After Every Visit
Many families are unable to visit the cemetery as often as they would like. After each care visit, we send photos of the monument so you can see that the cleaning was completed, flowers were placed, and your loved one’s resting place was respectfully cared for. These updates provide peace of mind, especially for families who live out of town or cannot visit regularly.
Family Plot Pricing
Family Plot Pricing is available when two or more monuments in the same cemetery are enrolled under the same customer account and serviced during the same scheduled visit or service window.
This discount applies to each qualifying monument, not just the additional stones. If different monuments require separate service dates, they may be priced as separate visits.
Standard vs. Large Monuments
A standard monument generally includes a typical single headstone, flat marker, or upright marker requiring one standard cleaning and one standard flower placement.
A large monument or companion stone may include larger upright monuments, double markers, family stones, monuments with multiple vases, or stones requiring additional cleaning time or larger flower arrangements. Final pricing may depend on monument size, condition, cemetery location, flower placement needs, and cemetery access.
Important Notes
Cemetery Rules
Cemetery rules vary. We will follow posted cemetery rules when known. If flowers are removed by cemetery staff, damaged by weather, or taken by others after placement, Mackenzie’s Monument Cleaning Service is not responsible for replacing them outside the next scheduled care visit.
Fragile or Damaged Monuments
If a monument appears unstable, severely damaged, fragile, or unsafe to clean, we may decline service or recommend professional monument repair before cleaning.
Services Not Included
At this time, our monument care services do not include stone repair, re-leveling, engraving, letter repainting, pressure washing, sandblasting, mowing, weed eating, landscaping, or permanent vase installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you use pressure washers?
No. Our standard cleaning method uses gentle tools, safe cleaning solution, and soft brushing. Pressure washing can damage some monuments and is not part of our regular care process.
Do care plans include flowers?
Yes. Care plans include standard flowers unless the family requests no flowers. Opting out of flowers does not change the care plan price.
Can we choose flower colors?
Families may share preferred colors or styles, and we will do our best to honor them when possible. Custom or premium arrangements may require separate pricing.
What if the cemetery removes the flowers?
Some cemeteries remove flowers during cleanup periods or maintenance. We are not responsible for flowers removed by cemetery staff, weather, or others after placement.
Can I enroll more than one monument?
Yes. Families with two or more monuments in the same cemetery may qualify for Family Plot Pricing when the monuments are serviced during the same scheduled visit or service window.
How will I know the service was completed?
We send photo updates after each completed visit.
